I really enjoyed seeing these guys live. It was such beautiful music and so different to the stuff I usually hear. We even spotted the main singer on the train a few weeks later! It was nice to be able to say thanks in person (you could tell he was a humble chap)

Commenting on my own Blog here, to say a big WELL DONE to the St Mary’s football team for winning the Boston Spa gala and then the St John’s gala. The first St Mary’s gala wins for many years. Obviously not down to the kit, but we hope the tidy attire did give the boys more confidence! They certainly looked the part going up for their trophies.

I can’t eat fruit but this example of ‘interactive’ fruit could really help me overcome this fruit fear. I can’t decide which I prefer, I think the rotating ‘before’ and ‘after’ nana which depicts the changing face of Anakin (i.e. as Vader in the original trilogy and as Anakin the brat from the god-awful prequels)

Yes, we still make sure our websites look ok in IE6; people still use it therefore we need to cater for it.
I think people just need encouraging to change their browser if they are still on IE6, especially if they are putting their selves at risk with a less secure browser.

Me too, interactive websites like this are always fun and make the whole experience ‘sticky’ and more memorable. It’s a promotional, visually driven website and I think it suits the purpose

This style wouldn’t suit a more information heavy website where quick access and regular updates are needed.

I agree that ‘designing your own menu’ is a really fun concept. However, I think that it really distracts from the main purpose of what the website should be about; Providing people with information about the Brewery. I feel that it is oventaken by creative and not very practical! Just my opinion though!

Agreed, my sketchbooks are an essential part of my creative process and I need them to fully explore ideas. I would never rush straight to a computer without first getting a few rough concepts drawn out on paper first.

Creative industry icon, Milton Glaser said it best in his interview for Flashforward08 San Francisco (watch from 3:57), that “most (designers) can’t draw their way out of a paper bag.”

Having said that, it always makes me smile when I see traditional hand skills converging with digital technologies. Creatives will always use whatever tools are available to them: their hands, a computer or a cave wall!

Interesting stats, but I can’t see this stacking up for Rupert Murdoch in the long term. Quite rightly, he is attributing a value to journalism and does not simply want to give away an expensive process free online but, speaking as a 21 year old, my generation expects free online content. I am not sure that the majority of people out there will differentiate cheap and rehashed news as opposed to real journalism and ‘new news’, and thus be prepared to pay for the difference. I know that is a bit of an indictment on the general public, but this is the battle the newspapers will have trying to migrate their content online. I am not convinced they will make it!

I was not sure how to respond to your last, “This is lame” comment, hence we deleted it, but since you’ve come back I want to thank you for following Media Wow online. Some of my blogs are obviously more provocative than the one above, which was not meant to express any sort of opinion.

The above stats were only just released and I think they were important enough to simply report without too much comment. As such, I can tell the blog falls short of your expectations, but I promise others will be more controversial. I have to hold back at times though, as I do have strong opinions. What is your view on the subjct? Is there a future for paid for online newspapers?
